The 2022 Sustainability Report highlights Molymet’s commitment to 9 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations and the progress it has made in reducing its carbon footprint, the use of renewable energy, support to communities among others.
Our company reached 80% implementation of its corporate sustainability strategy and managed to meet one of its commitments associated with the consumption of renewable electricity in its 2030 sustainability agenda. In addition, during 2022, we made progress in measuring scope 3 of the carbon footprint and its measurement by products, obtaining very positive results that position us as a company where our molybdenum oxide carbon footprint is 60% lower than the industry average.
The document mentions the projects that Molymet has been implementing simultaneously to achieve its sustainability objectives, among which the completion of the first stage of the modernization project of the MolymetNos plant stands out, whose investment to date is US$27.8 million.
This project will make it possible to reduce its current SO2 emission permits by 40% voluntarily by 2025. Likewise, the renewable energy generation projects, such as the photovoltaics of the Corporate Building and the R&D Building, as well as the wind mill in Molymet Belgium, which will come into operation during 2023 and will allow them to reach 80% use of renewable electricity.

On the other hand, we have made great progress in terms of our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy, the implementation of the action plans of the Labor Relations Index and the development of its Training and Learning Strategy. All this will allow us to guarantee the development of sustainable leadership and a culture of continuous and permanent training where care for the environment is a central axis.
