After undergoing an exhaustive external audit, Molynor and Molymet Belgium have been awarded the prestigious The Molybdenum Mark certification for their responsible production practices throughout their value chain.
This recognition is awarded by The Copper Mark, a not-for-profit assurance framework with a global presence that promotes responsible practices in the value chains of various metals, in those operations that stand out for their responsible production and sustainable sourcing practices.
Molymet participated voluntarily in this program through its subsidiaries Molymet Belgium and Molynor (Mejillones), obtaining validation after meeting 32 criteria grouped into categories such as Human Rights, Communities, Labor Rights, Environment and Governance.
“It is a recognition that represents the company’s conviction to add value to our stakeholders. We believe that sustainability and concern for our environment go completely hand in hand with our business model. These certifications are an extra motivation to continue improving day by day”, commented Edgar Pape, CEO of Molymet.
Michèle Brülhart, Executive Director of The Copper Mark, elaborated on the benefits of obtaining these certifications. “Receiving The Molybdenum Mark is public recognition for having state-of-the-art ESG practices. As market expectations around responsible practices have evolved, it is key to have mechanisms in place so that customers have confidence that their suppliers have been independently verified as having responsible production, recycling and sourcing practices”.
The certification reinforces Molymet’s commitment to sustainability and its alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Obtaining The Molybdenum Mark is a significant milestone in the national company’s journey towards sustainability.
