As a new demonstration of its commitment to clean energy, Molynor—a Molymet subsidiary located in Mejillones—has completed the installation of the final panel of its new photovoltaic park. This self-consumption project marks a milestone in the company’s energy transition journey.
The inauguration ceremony, held on Thursday, May 8, was attended by Edgar Pape, CEO of Molymet; Eduardo Riquelme Álamos, General Manager of Molynor; Ricardo Araya Cereceda, Vice President of Operations at Molymet; and Cristian Parra Gómez, Manager of Innovation, Projects and Services at Molynor.
Thanks to an agreement with Colbún S.A., the new photovoltaic park has reached an installed capacity of 1 MW, featuring 1,634 solar panels that are expected to generate 1,840 MWh of non-conventional renewable energy annually. This development is estimated to avoid the emission of 553 tons of CO₂ equivalent annually.
This project is the result of collaborative work among engineers, technicians, employees, and strategic partners, representing a concrete step toward cleaner and more environmentally responsible operations.
